This Wolf painting tells a story of the balance between light and darkness: it portrays two wolves - the real one, and the shadow wolf... You may have heard about the popular Native American Indian story about two wolves fighting - the white or 'good' wolf and the black or 'bad' wolf. A child asks their father which wolf will win the fight, and the most common answer is: "the wolf you feed will win". Implying that if you feed the 'good' in yourself, it will win. However, later I discovered this was not the true answer in the original story; the answer is that one needs to feed both wolves exactly right - as much as they both need. It means that if you only focus on or 'feed' the good in yourself and you do not get to know your own darkness, the shadow of that 'good' wolf will grow even bigger, resulting in negative or bad behavior coming out unexpectedly. An example is for instance the stories we all know about gurus abusing their followers, or other people in power (political, economical or religious) who are so convinced of their own goodness or righteousness that they do not respect other peoples' views or boundaries. So this is a reminder to myself and us all, to remember to also do shadow work, explore your own darkness, shine light on it. And have some fun and be a bad girl or boy now and then 😉.
